Donington Park round cancelled

15 April 2009

The Heritage round at the British F3 meeting at Donington Park has been cancelled due to ongoing issues with the circuit's track licence.

The UK's motor racing governing body - the Motor Sports Association - has yet to grant the Leicestershire venue a licence to hold race meetings in 2009, because of safety concerns over construction work for the British Grand Prix in 2010. It looks unlikely that  the circuit will obtain a licence before April 25/26.

The construction of a tunnel has severely reduced the run-off on either side of the track between McLeans and Coppice, and the MSA has requested remedial work to be carried out to make the area safe before granting Donington its licence.

We are sorry to disappoint our competitors and supporters but this is bought about by circumstances which are entirely out of our hands.

A new date for the F3 Donington meeting, will be confirmed within a few days, Heritage will be deciding whether the date will fit in to its current calendar.
