Heritage GT Challenge gets close to capacity

3 March 2008

The Heritage GT Car Challenge is fast approaching maximum capacity for the 2008 season and has just concluded a fresh television deal for the coming year.

The series is set for another great season, with capacity grids of GT and saloon cars from the 1960s and 1970s delivering crowd-pleasing action. Highlights of the 2008 calendar include races on the Brands Hatch GP circuit during the A1 GP meeting and races on the F3/GT programme, with a welcome return to Thruxton.

To ensure that competitors can do the races they choose, whilst also ensuring full grids at each of the seven events, Heritage Racing Support is capping registrations at 70 cars.

"We're getting very close to being full," said series director Roger Bennington. "We've taken 59 registrations to date and we will cap the list at 70 cars. With several of our regular competitors in the process of registering, we have very little space left.

"We ran with full, or very near full, grids throughout 2007 and we intend to maintain that in 2008. We've got a lot of confirmed entries already, with many of our regular contenders returning along with some new drivers."

The majority of the seven-event programme will enjoy extensive TV coverage on Sky. Hay Fisher Productions will capture the race action for screening in a series of dedicated half-hour programmes across the Sky Sports channels.

While Charterhouse continues as a key partner, other series supporters include Racemec, Pol Roger (champagne), First Choice Coffee, Jones the Bootmaker and Hoosier Tyres.

The 2008 calendar is:

12/13 April, Donington Park GP (MSVR)

2–4 May, Brands Hatch GP (A1 GP)

31 May, Silverstone (MSVR)

28/29 June, Thruxton (F3 GT)

19/20 July, Snetterton (MSVR)

16/17 August, Silverstone (F3 GT)

25/26 October, Brands Hatch (MSVR)
