Now in his 12th year of racing historic and classic cars, Alec Hammond from Burford, Oxfordshire has raced in the UK, Europe, South Africa and USA. with some success including two national championships in a Mark 2 Jaguar and describes racing as the most fun he has had without having to take his clothes off. He has raced very many different cars including Jaguar, Mark 2, Mark 1, EType and DType, Sunbeam Tiger, Corvette, Chevron B16, Lotus Cortina, Lotus R26, Aston Martin DB2 and DB4, Classic Porsche and modern GT2 Porsche in the Privilege GT series.
 
Alec's involvement with motorsport goes right back to the late 60s. From that time to the early 90's, he was involved with motorcycle racing and ran a team for Oxford Products the motorcycle accessory company for many years.
 
When not circuit racing, Alec does long distance rallies with his wife Barbara, and recently did the London to Sydney rally and the Carerra Sudamericana from Argentina to Ecuador cia Bolivia, Peru and the Andes.
 
Any spare time tends to be devoted to sailing in warmer climes.

Car.

1967 Chevrolet Camaro. This car has racing history going back many years with Alec Hammond, John Young and Trevor Pritchard. The engine is prepared by Peter Knight of Knight racing services and the car is prepared by Ashtree racing from Roxwell. Alec Hammond has achieved many wins with the car including 3 in one weekend at Brands Hatch. For 2007, the car has been further developed with 17 inch wheels, lighter bodywork and suspension modifications.
